Possibilities/Recent Excursions: |
Traveling to Guadalajara and neighboring villages to shop for furniture, lighting fixtures and accessories. There are many manufacturers to visit; many will build to order from a photograph! A 2 or 3 day visit would include great accommodations, a bilingual driver, great restaurants, shipping arrangements and fun!
On a recent tour with a small group from San Francisco, we visited the annual National Ceramic Awards in Tlaquepaque. This provides an opportunity to see one of a kind ceramics from villages all over Mexico. Included was a tour of four local artisan studios – most from the Masters of Mexican Folk Art. Of course, we ate many delicious meals in charming surroundings…and found some time to “just shop.” For those with extra time there is a wonderful spa on the river close to Guadalajara.
A trip to several towns, San Miguel Allende, Morelia, Patzcuaro, Guanajuato, enjoying their history, neighboring villages, special folk art galleries and studios. Great regional foods are a highlight.
Fabric and Food! (or Folk Art and Food) Cynthia participated in planning a similar trip in France…why not Mexico?!
